Glades County Dining Guide
Ten places to eat in and just around a county with more cattle than restaurants.
Do not expect a restaurant row. Glades County has only a handful of places to eat, most of them along U.S. 27 in Moore Haven and on the Brighton Reservation, so many visitors cook at camp or drive to the bigger towns of Clewiston and Okeechobee. The local tradition is fried fish: catfish, specks and bream, usually with hush puppies and swamp cabbage when it is in season.
We list the county’s own restaurants first, then a few well-known lakeside places just beyond its borders. Hours in rural Florida change with the season and the fishing, so call ahead.
Moore Haven and Palmdale
Small-town places along U.S. 27.
A steakhouse with a full bar near the riverwalk, popular with boaters passing through on the waterway.
Pizza, subs, stromboli and calzones on U.S. 27; handy for picking up lunch before a day on the water.
The grill and camp store at the Fisheating Creek campground, convenient before or after a paddle.
Seminole Brighton Bay
Restaurants at the casino hotel on the Brighton Seminole Reservation.
The resort’s sit-down steakhouse, known for a bone-in ribeye cooked over a wood fire.
An all-day diner at the resort with breakfast served at any hour.
Pizza, coffee, pastries and sandwiches to go at the resort.
Around the Big O
Lakeside favorites a short drive outside the county.
A marina restaurant on the lake serving breakfast, lunch and dinner to anglers and boaters.
An open-air bar on the water at the same marina, with live music on many nights.
A family seafood house that began as a tiny fish counter at a lake campground and is now one of the best-known places to eat on the north shore.
A family diner on Parrott Avenue known for big breakfasts and recipes passed down in the owner’s family.
Restaurants change hours, menus and ownership often — check with the restaurant before you go. Listings are editorial picks, not paid placements.

Fried freshwater fish, especially catfish and speckled perch, along with frog legs, gator tail and swamp cabbage, the heart of the cabbage palm.
Are restaurants open late in Glades County?
Mostly not. Small-town restaurants often close early in the evening, and some close a day or two a week. The diner at Seminole Brighton Bay is the main late-night option.
Can I cook my own catch?
Many fish camps and RV resorts have fish-cleaning stations and grills, and some will point you to a local cook. Ask when you book.
